AAA - Art Director - Help us revive a cult classic
We’re about to start the development of a new AAA-action game based on a cult classic and we need your help. Help us define the style and aesthetics we are looking for and establish the ground rules for the art team.
Who are we?
Maybe you have already played some of our games, such as Rise of the Triad, Rad Rodgers, and most recently Ion Fury, GRAVEN and WRATH: Aeon of Ruin, released under our publishing label 3D Realms. We are fans of old school action and strategy with multiple titles in development and we are soon beginning development on a new AAA title based on a cult classic. Slipgate is characterized by Danish working culture, a flat organization with a high team spirit, where we get excited about new ideas no matter who brings them up and work-life balance is important to many of us.
We are looking for a person who can provide artistic leadership and mentor all artists across multiple teams so we stay true to the overall vision of the project across all art features.
Your role will be to act as a mentor and coach while also keeping the style up to date with the agreed guidelines in a timely and professional manner.
We will hopefully see you establish the rules of the world we have begun developing and communicate this to all departments of production.
You will also participate in controlling the unity of all visual parts: models, characters, atmosphere, and general aesthetics.
Follow the work of the team and ensure they reach the expected artistic quality and if time permits, contribute to the art pipeline creation.
Who are you?
Several years of experience as an art director, having at least one shipped PC or console game in the last 3 years (preferable AA or AAA). A thorough understanding of art outsourcing pipelines, capacities and technical constraints related to Unreal.
Strong ability in writing documentation and how we apply that into art production.
Proven proficiency in current 2D and 3D applications including 3Ds Max, Zbrush, Photoshop and more.
Experience in a Lead position and the ability to guide the Art team from an artistic standpoint
Excellent written and spoken English
Be part of a highly talented team and play a vital role in reviving a cult-classic IP.
The bulk of your work will be in our studio in Aalborg, Denmark, with work from home days when possible. You will refer directly to the production and management groups while you support the production teams.
